"L ucky" Liam O'Malley isn't feeling so fortunate these days. He
and his mismatched "gang" have been pretending to be tough guys to keep the real gangsters out
of their little town, but Big Louie has apparently decided to muscle in. At the same time,
Lucky's singer Baby is expecting a visit from her prim and proper sister, who thinks Baby works
for a very respectable priest. To help Baby out, Lucky becomes "Father O'Malley" but it's hard
being both a gangster and a priest when you're really just a guy who runs a nightclub.
L ucky's odd assortment of friends: a nasty, over-the-hill cigarette
"girl", a wanna-be who doesn't get that the gang's all for show, a lady with a colorful past,
and a confused ex-boxer, contribute to his problems. Worse, he finds himself falling in love
with Baby's prim sister Eloise, who has her own odd entourage: an old maid secretary, an uncle
with identity issues, and two mysterious, slightly threatening "associates".
