Such A Deal for You!

Often I have stories that are funny to me but might set other people thinking, "The woman doesn't have a clue."
I know that, and mostly, I don't mind.

At the beginning of the month I signed up for a promotion that required I reduce the price on a boxed set. I did that, making The Simon & Elizabeth Mysteries (all 4 books in that series) just $.99 for the month of September.
When I went back to list it on the promo, I realized it didn't fit the criteria.
Result: The e-book boxed set is really cheap this month, for no good reason.

I did manage to get one promo right, so KIDNAP.org will be free for download on BookFunnel starting Friday., Sept. 20 and going until Oct. 19 (link:https://books.bookfunnel.com/feel-goodcrime/xb92i6xlq7
For that promo an author lists how many books she's willing to give away, and they stay available until that # is reached. If you haven't yet started that series, it's fun, and the second book, PharmaCon, is available in print and e-book formats. Audio should be coming along soon and I'll keep you informed.

30 Days of Christmas Day 20: What's a Blog-Hop? & Bad Christmas Music

A Blog-Hop is a line of blogs put together so that readers meet new authors. A group that awarded their BRAG medallion to THE SLEUTH SISTERS, IndieBrag, has arranged one for the month of December, and I'm to be high-lighted tomorrow, Dec. 15th. I plan to share a Christmas story I wrote that will remind you of another Christmas tale, and I plan on giving away advance copies of my next book to some who visit either me (here) or Maggie (maggiepill.maggiepillmysteries.com). Be sure to visit!

Today's topic is Christmas music. I love the classics, both religious and secular, but I have to admit I'm distressed by performers who shouldn't attempt them. Walking through the stores, I hear stuff and think, "Who thought this was a good idea?"

I found this site that demonstrates: http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2013/12/10/worst-christmas-songs_n_4416509.html

I have a soft spot for George Michael that I can't explain, but the rest? Shouldna done it!

Recap: Alpena Book Festival

It was great! Good weather, great fans, knowledgeable authors, and wonderful downtown businesses, especially our sponsors: Blue Phoenix Books, Olivet Book & Give, and the George M. Fletcher Library!
But I won't tell you: I'll show you!

Volunteers make an event, and we had some great ones, including S-in-Law Julie and her niece Skyla, who took these pics.
Other helpers P.J. & Kaylee had a bit of trouble with tangled balloons.
Loved what Allen & Goel Marketing Company did with the tote bags.
Author Elizabeth Buzzelli shares a laugh with a fan.
Bob of Bob's Bullpen demonstrates some facets of graphic arts.
 "My Favorite Book" tree
Love to see a kid enjoying a book!

Panel at Blue Phoenix Books: What Makes a Genre, and Which Ones Do You Read?
l to r: Christine Johnson, Connie Doherty, P.J. Coldren, Laura Kolar, Chris Chagnon
Signing for Clarence, a voracious reader and nice man.
Author Susan Froetschel with a new fan.
.Work station for Bill & Diane Speer, who did ALL the registration for the Festival. Thank you!
Chanda Stafford & Laura Kolar hosted the YA segment...
...and look what they got? I shoulda volunteered for that one. I'd like to thank the bakers at the cupcake shop, but sadly, I don't remember the name!!
Before the Nonfiction panel at Art in the Loft: Mark Thompson, Tedd Galloway, Delores Liesner, & Elaine Stenger
The Long Conversation was an experiment, but it worked out well. Authors came and went for three hours, and discussion meandered through a series of topics related to reading, writing, publishing, and promoting books.

An Interruption in Freebies

Winner of KILLING SILENCE was Patti T.

Due to the death of my laptop (purchased a scant six months ago) I'm suspending the freebies for this week. I hope the Princess Bride Effect is in play and the infernal machine is only mostly dead, but since I'll be traveling for the next few days, I have to leave it behind. I can't deal with daily updates to this blog on my iPad. Remember, my IT has DIO in the middle.

I've decided to pick the giveaways up again in May, when the third Sleuth Sisters book comes out, so stay tuned!

And don't forget to look for DEAD FOR THE SHOW, which will release on Monday whether I'm ready or not!

It's Getting Close!

You might think "Christmas!" when you read that headline, but for me it's the release of SISTER SAINT, SISTER SINNER on Dece...
